Healthy Eats Challenge: Week 1

I came across this 'flat tummy friendly foods' list on Pinterest (of course), and on this list are 10 healthy items to munch on to keep that tummy tight. 

Each week, for 10 weeks, I am going to incorporate one of these friendly food items into my diet, and attempt to eat that and ONLY that item as a main ingredient.  

For the first week, I will choose cucumbers. 

Now, I had to get creative here....but here is what my week's menu looks like: 

• Cucumber Salads -- Japanese, Tropical, and plain ol' Cucumber & Tomato
• Creamy Cucumber soup -- sounds interesting, yes, can't wait to make and try it
• Cucumber sandwiches 
• &
• Detox Water with cucumbers

Sneaker Wedge Lovin'

So, about them sneaker wedges.  I got myself a pair, from (get ready for this one), Target, and after quite a long wait (they were back ordered and only available on line, boo) they finally came in! Got quite a few 'mixed' feelings on them, but ya know what...I don't care watcha all think, because I love em, love em, love em.  

They are super comfy, basically like high top sneaks, but add a bit of height. That is all.

This is something I majorly want to try. It seems simple enough, sounds half delicious, and apparently helps you maintain a flat belly.  Here's how you can try it out too, with the special ingredients and instructions for this healthy concoction.

Lulu Guinness Launches SUPER Cute Watches

For the first time ever, Lulu Guiness, who is known for her unique handbags and accessories, has finally created a super freakin' collection of watches inspired by her own vintage watches and designs including the Black and White Stripe, Cameo, Lip Blot and Lip Print.  
The collection features the classic Lulu Guinness colour palette of red, black, white, and shocking pink, combined with silver, gold, rose gold and black IP hardware finishes.
The watches are not yet for sale but will be shortly on her site...so hey, you heard it first! My personal fave...the one with the red quilted lips band!

Gucci SS 2013 Beauty

There is no where I'd rather be right now than Milan, sipping on a cup of espresso, or cappuccino would do just fine too, writing up a review on the backstage beauty of Gucci's Spring 2013 collection.  However, I am not that fortunate to be doing just that, so I had to settle for the next best thing.
Today, the second day of autumn here, and I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day.  I am just happy taking in the backstage beauty from my laptop screen and tapping away at the keyboard from my small room in a tiny suburban town, 40 minutes from the city that never sleeps.

Gucci's backstage beauty was magnificent, the hair parted down the center, in a low, twisted chignon.  A hair extension was added to look like a left out piece of hair, styled sticking straight up and out with a sleek angle and super, super shiny.

Makeup was beautifully done, very minimal with lots of bronzer, and the lovely smokey eye.

Emerson Spring 2013

Emerson's designer, Jackie Fraser-Swan, should be extremely proud of her third showing at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.  The designer uses much of her own style and aesthetic for her collection, mixing rock with romance, and her Spring 2013 collection is no exception.  Feast your eyes on dark, original, elegant, and refined pieces with just the right touch of funky, fun edginess. 

With peplum blazers, classic button down blouses, drapey dresses all with a '70s modern flare, there's no telling the collection was nothing less than a blast from the past.

Chadwick Bell Spring 2013

Resfreshing and pleasant, Chadwick Bell's Spring 2013 collection was clean, crisp, and creative.  The designer himself said of his inspiration, ”I like to think of it as a crusade for clarity". 

Surprisingly, again, the show started off with looks featuring neutral colors, blacks, whites, and creams.  Mixing in some colors, mustard, green, and rose lace crochet made a statement. 

What really took my breath away as I sat in the 2nd row while the models made their way down the runway and walked past me into the aisle?  The metallic heelless heels and the floral cream colored heelless wedges.  Simply breathtaking.  

Nicholas K Spring 2013

For the first time ever, I was invited to the opening show of  New York Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2013, Nicholas K.  The brother/sister duo's 'Soylent Green' collection was very natural, neutral, and organic. 

Inspired by the sci-fi 70s film that predicted a dystopian future for New York in 2022, "It had this futuristic, nomad feeling that was interesting for us since we're really organic in our lifestyle," Nicholas Kunz told ELLE. "It talks about how there are all these technological advances, but people are reverting back to pureness and a minimalistic life."

With 61 looks mainly made up of beige, caramel and the occasional burnt orange piece, Nicholas K stayed true to their natural style...and I, completely loved it for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2013 season.
